Explore the birthplace of Tibetan civilisation when you visit the Yarlung Valley and tombs of the ancient Kings. Walk the halls and chapels of impressive Potala Palace, former home of the Dalai Lamas and an awe inspiring landmark that towers over Lhasa. Visit the most revered religious structure in Tibet – Jokhang Temple, that bustles with pilgrims and worshippers and echoes with mystery and ritual. Journey on to Sera monastery, with its serene temples and famous home to the serious business of debating the Buddhist scriptures. Return to Lhasa and your scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Visit mid August for a chance to attend the wonderful Shoton Festival in Lhasa from 10 to 15 August 2010. During the festival open picnics and other festivities including opera performances at Norbulingka take place with bonfires at nighttime.
