Famous festivals of Ladakh - Hemis Festival 09-15 July 2008

Hurry to book your place at Ladakh's most famous festival - the wonderful Hemis Festival. Ladakh, also known as Little Tibet, lies in the far north of India although culturally and geographically it is closer to Tibet and it is one of the last remaining enclaves of Tibetan Buddhism. Shrouded in a mist of myth and mystery, this land of monks and monasteries rises gracefully from the upper half of the Indus basin. Sandwiched between the vast ranges of the Karakoram and the Himalaya in the far north of India, Ladakh is the highest, most remote and least populated region in the whole country. This 7 day 6 night tour is a wonderful opportunity to join in the celebrations and enjoy the masked dances and enactments, age old ceremonies and the colour, vibrancy and rich culture. Some of the many highlights include the colourful masked dramas & ceremonies of the Festival, exploring Leh & surrounds in the stunning Ladakh region and the drive across the highest motorable road in the world at 5260m as you cross over the high Khardong La pass with stunning views from the top. From only £595 per person joining a small group or £650 for your own private tour - excluding international flights. Internatinal flights from £300 economy return.
